The expert newsletter.

One email a month in your expert's name, written by us, sent to the list the hub built, and reported like everything else.

The newsletter is how the audience the hub collects gets used. Our team writes one monthly email per active expert, in their voice, out of the work they published that month, and sends it to the people who subscribed on their page.

It is not a firm-wide marketing bulletin. It comes from one person the reader chose to follow, which is why it gets opened, and it says what that person has been working on rather than what the firm has been announcing.

Why it matters

What a monthly email from a person actually changes.

It arrives from somebody they choseA reader who followed one expert is expecting to hear from that expert. That is a different relationship from a list that was bought or scraped, and it opens at a different rate.
Nobody at the firm writes itThe reason most professional services newsletters die is that they depend on somebody with billable hours remembering to write one. This one is written and sent by us.
It brings the audience backPublishing is only half of it. A monthly email is what turns twenty-six pieces a year into repeat visits from the same buyers, on the pages that matter.
The list is still yoursWe write it and we send it, and the subscribers remain your firm's, exportable at any time.

What it does

What goes out, and to whom.

01

We interview them every month

Twenty minutes on a call our editors book and run. They pull out what that expert has actually been thinking about since the last one, which is where the insight in the email comes from and why it is never a rewrite of the website.

  • A recorded conversation, not a request to write something
  • The angle comes from them, the draft comes from us

Our view

Why it comes from a person.

Jordan Greenaway
Firm newsletters get deleted because nobody ever asked for one. An email from the specific person whose article you read last month, about the thing you read it for, is a different object entirely. Same list, same content, and the open rate roughly doubles.

Questions

What firms ask about this.

+Who writes the newsletter?
Our editorial team, from the work that expert published that month. The expert approves it before it sends and can change anything they want.
+How often does it go out?
Monthly, per active expert. More often than that and the open rate falls, less often and the audience forgets who signed up.
+What if an expert has a small list?
It still goes. A list of forty people who all work in your market is worth sending to, and it grows every month the pages publish.
+Do we approve every send?
The named expert does. Some firms add a communications review as well, which is a step in the flow rather than a problem.
+Which platform does it send from?
Ours, on a subdomain of your domain, so the sending reputation and the list both belong to your firm.
+Can we send our own campaigns to the list?
It is your list, so yes, and we would ask you to think about it first. The reason it opens is that it only ever comes from the person they followed.
+Is it a template or does it look like us?
It is set up in your brand once, at launch, and then the monthly send is copy into a shape that has already been signed off.
+What happens to the newsletter if we stop?
The list is exported to you and the sending stops. Nothing about the audience is held back.
